    THE BRIDGE

Bridging the "Age Friendly" community of Sarasota with Carrie Mills and her VPA program at Booker Middle School

We developed a powerful inter-generational education outreach program that gives 2 groups a needed, larger voice in the world. Middle school children and adults aged 60+ often feel lonely and lost. The Bridge brings these groups together to share their stories, mentor each other and build positive outlooks and relationships. The program finishes with a final performance which for some is the most rewarding aspect as they now relate to friends, family, and the community in a variety of monologues that remind that there are more commonalities than differences between the 2 generations.

    O SOLO ME O

A solo theatre development workshop for Booker High School Juniors in the Visual and Performing Arts program

Ann Morrison and Blake Walton bring their solo performance workshop “SoloSynergy” to Sunny D Smith’s level III theatre students as a means to finding self-expression in writing and performing a personal story. Taking many forms including performance art, dance and movement, monologue, stand-up, fictional narrative, and cabaret, the 20-24 students write autobiographical pieces or a fictionalized aspect of themselves and some write something for another student to perform. Almost all the pieces are directed by a fellow student and all are presented in a final performance with an audience.

    Mrs. Bliss's Titanic Adventure

Written and Performed by Bridget Bean

    Directed by James Rayfield

Award winning Tampa Bay actress and director Bridget Bean plays a struggling actor working in a Titanic exhibit as a character named “Mrs. Bliss.” In a twist of fate, she is transported back to the actual SS Titanic. Can Mrs. Bliss avert disaster? Her adventure takes us on a zany ride which touches on the immigrant experience, the phenomenon of celebrity, the search for love, and asks the question: “what would you do if you were ever offered a do-over?”

    An Evening Of Carl Sandburg

    2/11 @7, 2/13 @9, 2/14 @7

Written and Performed by Jonathan Gillard Daly

    Directed by Gale Childs Daly

Jonathan Gillard Daly threads together a free-wheeling character sketch of Carl Sandburg, the beloved poet, raconteur, historian, and troubadour, through his poems, essays, children’s stories and folk songs in a fanciful recreation of the entertainment with which Sandburg delighted audiences throughout the mid twentieth century.

“The show allows us to have a bird’s eye view of the world around us, as filtered through the eyes of this famous Renaissance man… Daly handles it with a touch of finesse. Audiences will leave with a new appreciation for this fascinating, entirely American, character.” Anne Siegal, TotalTheater.Com

    Linda Lovely Goes To Broadway

Ann Morrison finds immense beauty in her friend Linda, a highly imaginative actress and writer with Down syndrome, who teaches deep lessons from the heart. During a road trip to New York, to fulfill her dream of singing center stage on Broadway, Linda is actually preparing for a larger mission, one that would profoundly affect everyone around her and beyond.

“Morrison encourages us to seek out the things that make us happy and follow our innate creativity. That’s what she’s doing in her life and work and the result enriches us all.”

    -Jay Handelman, Sarasota Herald-Tribune

“She shares herself and her life frankly and without fear…The result of all this candor is a wonderfully warm and inspiring tale of how one woman went from sad and lost to joyful and found.” 5 Stars Samantha Simmonds-Ronceros, LA Critic, NoHoArtsDistrict

I thought my appetite for one-person shows would be more limited than it turned out to be during the inaugural SaraSolo Festival, two weekends of solo performances that were either musical, historical or fictional. I saw more than half the offerings and it was entertaining to experience such a variety, even when the results weren’t always polished. Founders Ann Morrison, Blake Walton and David Coyle will be back with another two-weekend festival, this time starting in late January.
